Dr. Bob Arnot, international humanitarian, author of 10 books about health, and winner of the Alfred I. Dupont Award for his work with crack cocaine abusers, takes a minute or two to talk to us about allergies. Many people who think they have a cold actually suffer from allergies.
Dr. Arnot sends it over to Donna Hugland, RN, MSN, CNP, who describes the symptoms of allergies and how they differ from common cold symptoms. She talks about efffective over-the-counter remedies for allergies, and cautions asthmatics about over-the-counter medicines with certain ingredients.
Hugland talks about keeping a clean house, because clean air can certainly make a difference. Also, she cautions against letting a sinus infection (an infection possibly caused by allergies) go too far – for that you likely need an antibiotic.
